According to an April 26 press release, Tenet Health said a cybersecurity incident that has been ongoing since April 20, has affected a “subset of acute care operations.”
Tenet Health said it is taking steps to restore the systems affected, but stated that its hospitals remain operational.
The cause of the cyber incident is unknown and the company’s investigation is ongoing.
WPTV NewsChannel 5 reported April 23 that telephone services and some information systems at two of Tenet Health’s Florida hospitals had not been operating since April 20.
St. Mary’s Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center, both in West Palm Beach, Fla., have had patients and staff express concerns about patient care tied to limits of electronic charting and their inability to communicate by telephone.
Medical staff reported that they were relying on paper records and physically leaving the hospital to use phones.
WPTV NewsChannel 5 also reported April 25 that emergency medical crews were redirecting patients away from St. Mary’s Medical Center.
There is no timeline as to when the issues will be fixed.
