“Scammers may pose as Gritman representatives and try to gain personal information, including your insurance and Medicare information,” the hospital posted Jan. 17 on Facebook. “These scammers can easily ‘spoof’ a phone number, making a call appear as if it is coming from the hospital or our clinics.”

Gritman Medical Center said patients can contact the hospital if they are ever in doubt about the legitimacy of a call. Scam artists have attempted similar schemes across the country in recent years.
