Vikas Singla, 48, was sentenced June 17 after pleading guilty in November to a single charge under the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. His attorneys stated in a court filing that Mr. Singla is profoundly remorseful for his “extremely reckless and potentially dangerous” conduct.
Mr. Singla served as the COO of Atlanta-based healthcare network security company Securolytics during the attack on Gwinnett. He was indicted on June 8, 2021.
The Justice Department said that Mr. Singla’s cyberattack on Gwinnett Medical Center disrupted the hospital’s phone service, stole information from a digital device and interfered with network printer services.
