The U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin June 22 warning of a heightened threat environment tied to ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

The bulletin, which remains in effect through Sept. 22, says U.S. networks may be targeted by low-level cyberattacks from pro-Iranian hacktivist groups. Government-affiliated cyber actors in Iran could also attempt disruptive attacks, according to the department.

Officials also said the likelihood of violence in the U.S. could rise if Iranian leaders issue a religious ruling calling for retaliation against U.S. targets. The department highlighted Iran’s continued interest in targeting U.S. government officials tied to the 2020 killing of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani.
