Approximately 2,300 adults, aged 18 and over, were surveyed online between July 16 and 23. The survey findings show a gap between the interest in using technologies and whether the service is actually available. For instance, online access to medical records is available to 17 percent of respondents but 33 percent of respondents view that service as important, and 32 percent of respondents view it as very important .
Additional results show a similar disparity:
• Email access to physicians — 12 percent have access; 23 percent view it as very important; 30 percent view it as important.
• Online appointment setting — 11 percent have access; 21 percent view it as very important; 30 percent view it as important.
• Online billing and payments — 10 percent have access; 21 percent view it as very important; 29 percent view it as important.
