The man, Lonnie Kinder, said he received an email telling him that he would interviewed for a data entry job at Cerner. He was told to move some of his money to another bank account to cover the cost of purchasing equipment for him to do the job, according to KMBC.
He started noticing poor grammar and spelling in the emails, which made him suspicious enough to contact the company, according to the report. Upon contacting Cerner, he weas told he was not the only one to fall victim to the scam. Mr. Kinder said he lost approximately $4,350 in the scam.
Cerner issued a recruitment fraud alert Feb. 10, outlining its recruitment procedures and including a link to FTC fraud reporting.
