Telemedicine, specifically teleneurology, has the potential to provide better neurological care to patients who may not have access to a specialist, according to the AAN. However, without legislative access to remove financial and regulatory barriers, teleneurology will not be able to reach its full potential.

AAN’s call for a streamlined licensing processes compliments drafted telemedicine recommendations recently released by the Federation of State Medical Boards, which would require physicians to be licensed in the state where the patient is located.
