Microsoft has expanded its AI-powered clinical assistant, Dragon Copilot, to support nursing workflows and third-party partner integrations.
The update includes the first commercially available ambient AI solution tailored to nursing. It enables nurse-patient interactions to be ambiently captured and converted into flowsheet documentation within the EHR after nurse review. Nurses can also access trusted clinical content and automate routine tasks such as note drafting and summarizing interactions, according to an Oct. 16 news release.
The enhancements aim to reduce the administrative burden that contributes to high burnout among nurses — with 65% reporting high stress and more than 25% of their shift consumed by documentation and administrative tasks, according to the release.
Microsoft also introduced new features, allowing healthcare organizations to integrate AI applications into the platform. These embedded tools enable clinicians to access clinical decision support, streamline prior authorizations, manage revenue cycle workflows and access real-time analysis.
