Peter Bowman-Davis has been appointed chief AI officer at the Department of Health and Human Services, Politico reported April 30, citing internal HHS documents and a department official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

- According to his LinkedIn profile, he is currently on leave from Yale.
- Politico could not reach Mr. Bowman-Davis for comment.
- HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon told the publication the department does not comment on personnel matters.
- Mr. Bowman-Davis is listed as a senior advisor in the office of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
A directive issued April 3 by the Office of Management and Budget required each federal agency to appoint a chief AI officer within 60 days.
The FDA also recently appointed Jeremy Walsh as its first chief artificial intelligence officer. Mr. Walsh made the announcement via LinkedIn on May 2.
