A majority of healthcare general counsels are worried about data privacy and security issues in their organizations, according to Bethesda, Md.-based Consero Group's 2017 Healthcare General Counsel Report.
The report was developed in partnership with Orlando, Fla.-based Broad and Cassel. Fifty-four general counsels from mid-to large-sized healthcare systems in the United States participated in the survey.
Healthcare-focused lawyers reported the following as the top five areas that worry them:
• Data privacy and security: 75 percent
• False Claims Act: 58 percent
• HIPAA/HITECH compliance: 54 percent
• Insurance risk exposure: 20 percent
• Antitrust risk: 15 percent
Note: The general counsels were asked to select all areas that applied to them.
