AHA’s Hospital & Health Networks magazine presents the seven most commonly used security tools to prevent unauthorized access to patient data. The percentages are for all respondents to H&HN‘s Most Wired Survey. The percentages for this year’s Most Wired Hospitals are in parentheses.

1. Intrusion detection systems — 84 percent (94 percent)

2. Remote data-wiping capabilities — 83 percent (91 percent)

3. Privacy audit systems — 77 percent (87 percent)

4. Security incident management — 76 percent (88 percent)

5. Data loss prevention — 71 percent (78 percent)

6. Provisioning systems — 58 percent (71 percent)

7. Utilize pattern detection against automated login attempts — 43 percent (54 percent)
