The survey aimed to determine how healthcare leaders are prioritizing technology investment and adoption to move toward connected care and address healthcare reform initiatives.
Respondents’ top considerations when making clinical IT investments include:
1. Interoperability with electronic medical record system — 44 percent
2. Evidenced based clinical support at point of care — 18 percent
3. Ease of use — 16 percent
4. Price — 15 percent
5. Interoperability with infrastructure — 13 percent
6. Support services (lifecycle management) — 5 percent
Survey results were based on responses from 142 respondents, with 85 percent of respondents representing either standalone hospitals or integrated delivery networks. Nearly 40 percent of respondents held C-level positions, the predominant position being the CIO. Another 30 percent comprised IT directors and managers.
