Infosys commissioned Branded Research, an independent market research firm, to conduct the survey across Australia, China, France, Germany, India, the United Kingdom and the United States. For the survey, Branded Research asked 1,053 C-suite executives and IT decision makers about AI implementation and execution at their organizations.
The Infosys survey noted data “underpins” most AI technologies. For example, machine learning is a type of AI in which a computer learns over time, rather being programmed like typical software. Software developers train a machine learning model by feeding it relevant data from diverse information sources.
The majority of C-suite executives and IT decision makers — 73 percent — agreed AI has already transformed the way they conduct business, according to the survey. However, 49 percent of respondents reported their organization was unable to deploy the AI technologies they want because their data is not ready to support them.
Other common barriers respondents cited to getting AI projects off the ground included IT security and privacy (45 percent), data integrity (37 percent) and employee training (36 percent).
As a foundational step to address data issues, 77 percent of IT decision makers said their organization plans to invest in data management services. This response was particularly common in the U.S., where 89 percent of IT decision makers said they were interested in data management.
