Once patients receive approval from their physician, Pathway mails them a saliva DNA collection kit, which the company uses to extrapolate information on 75 key genes related to diet, exercise and nutrient metabolism, including sugars and fats. The app uses inputted user data and analytics from the genetic findings to provide users with information on their genetic tendencies and makes recommendations about their health.

But at the same time they are overwhelmed with understanding and interpreting the massive amounts of information that specifically impacts their health and well-being,” Michael Nova, MD, chief innovation officer for Pathway Genomics, said in a news release.
