The 14 state regulated hospitals submitted budget proposals to the Green Mountain Care Board on July 1. In the proposals, hospitals ask to increase the amount commercial insurers pay by an average of 2.4 percent. Additionally, hospitals are seeking to increase patient revenue by 3.6 percent.

The Green Mountain Care Board will hold hearings in August and approve or modify each hospital’s budget by Sept. 15.

“I’m feeling pretty good about this,” Mike Del Trecco, CFO of the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, which represents all 14 regulated hospitals, told the VT Digger. “[The growth rate] is really a sign of the hospitals and the delivery system moving in the right direction.”
