University of Colorado Health plans new hospital

University of Colorado Health is going to build a hospital in Longmont, Colo.

The new facility, which is projected to cost $100 million to $125 million, will feature 50 to 75 inpatient beds, an intensive care unit, operating rooms and an emergency department, according to a news release. Advanced cardiology services and a birth center also will be offered.

"As a physician who has cared for patients in northern Colorado for 25 years, I'm excited that this new hospital will enable us to bring advanced care close to home for patients in Longmont and Boulder County," UCHealth CMO Bill Neff, MD, said in a news release.

UCHealth expects to break ground on the new hospital later this year with a projected grand opening in late 2016 or early 2017.
