Patients who have trouble accessing healthcare due to transportation or other access barriers can still obtain attention remotely through virtual health consultations. According to the news report, the virtual interaction provides better communication than phone calls or teleconferencing.

The virtual Vanderbilt island includes a nursing home, residential trailer and an outpatient clinic that resembles the hospital’s actual Eskind Diabetes Center.
