Tidelands Health receives $10M gift toward expansion, names surgery pavilion after donors

Georgetown, S.C.-based Tidelands Health received a $10 million donation from the Yawkey Foundation to support an ongoing expansion project at the health system's main campus, reports WCSC.

The health system will name its recently-unveiled $42 million surgery pavilion to honor Tom and Jean Yawkey, long-time donors to the health system. The pavilion is part of an ongoing $124 million expansion project.

Maureen Bleday, executive vice president of the Yawkey Foundation, selected Tidelands Health because of their long-term partnership and the health system's commitment to Georgetown, according to the report.

"Really, they do provide care for everyone. They want to help everyone, even the most disadvantaged and those that need it the most," Ms. Bleday told WCSC.

Tidelands Health began its expansion project in 2013. It is expected to be complete in 2019.
