Crystal Ewing, Senior Business Analyst, ZirMed: ICD-10 is live, but the impact is still to be decided. There could be a spike in ICD-10-related denials — we just don’t know yet — but you can protect your organization by reducing preventable, non-ICD-10-related denials right now. Until we see more ICD-10 remits from payers — and perhaps more importantly, if there isn’t a spike in denials due to ICD-10 — the root-causes of your denials will be the same as they were before ICD-10. If a spike does occur, the effect on your organization will be lower overall if you’ve addressed these root causes and streamlined denial management workflows.
