R1 RCM sells Tonic Health

Patient engagement platform Luma Health has acquired digital health and patient intake software firm Tonic Health from R1 RCM. 

Luma said the acquisition furthers the company’s mission to “automate busywork, reduce staff friction and make it simpler for patients to access care with its AI-native platform,” according to a Nov. 12 news release. Luma also said the acquisition demonstrates its commitment to serving health systems using Oracle Health EHRs.

The acquisition expands Luma’s reach to more than 1,000 health systems, including more than 15 leading academic medical centers in the U.S., according to the release.

R1 RCM acquired Tonic in April 2020. 

Financial terms were not disclosed.
