Here are six things to know about the potential closure.

1. Palomar Health announced Thursday that its board could decide to close the 65-year-old hospital, which houses inpatient rehabilitation and labor and delivery, among other services.

3. If the Palomar Health board decides to close the hospital, services would shift from the Palomar Health downtown campus to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido and Pomerado Hospital in Poway, Calif.

4. The plan for the shift of services would include transitioning inpatient rehabilitation and labor and delivery services to Palomar Medical Center and increasing the services already provided at Pomerado Hospital.

5. Moving services would involve layoffs, although it is unknown how many jobs would be cut, according to the report.

6. A special board meeting to consider closing the Palomar Health downtown campus is scheduled for June 24.
