CMS Approves Joint Commission’s Continued Deeming Authority for Critical Access Hospitals

CMS has issued a final notice that it has approved The Joint Commission for continued recognition as a national accreditation program for critical access hospitals seeking to participate in the Medicare or Medicaid programs.

Federal regulations require that accreditation programs reapply for continued approval of deeming authority every six years. The Joint Commission’s continued deeming authority is effective from Nov. 21, 2011 through Nov. 21, 2017.
