New Mexico hospitals to get $169M Medicaid boost

New Mexico hospitals will receive a $168.7 million increase in Medicaid reimbursement for inpatient and outpatient services under a plan unveiled by the state's governor May 28.

Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said the increases, which are effective July 1, aim to address the low Medicaid reimbursement rates hospitals receive for delivering care to vulnerable populations. Ms. Grisham said the increases restore rates that the previous administration reduced in 2016.

Safety-net hospitals will get a 14 percent increase for inpatient hospital services, while all other in-state hospitals, excluding the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, will get a 12 percent increase. UNM will get a 5 percent increase for inpatient services.
