McCook, Neb.-based Community Hospital has shared plans to close its Curtis (Neb.) Medical Center, a rural health clinic.

An exact date for Curtis Medical’s closure has not been determined yet, according to a July 2 news release.

“Unfortunately, the current financial environment, driven by anticipated federal budget cuts to Medicaid, has made it impossible for us to continue operating all of our services, many of which have faced significant financial challenges for years,” Troy Bruntz, president and CEO of Community Hospital, said in the release.

The closure comes amid uncertainties surrounding the future of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which could decrease Medicaid spending by nearly $1 trillion.

Community Hospital comprises Curtis Medical Center, McCook (Neb.) Clinic, McCook-based Medical Specialists Center, Trenton (Neb.) Medical Clinic and McCook-based Roots Student Housing, according to its website
