Instead of receiving separate statements for each service, a patient will receive one consolidated, itemized bill at the end of the month. Patients can choose to pay for the services separately or in full.
Mercy health workers say the new system helps remove the clutter and reduces patient confusion, according to the report.
CoxHealth, a Springfield, Mo.-based nonprofit health system, expects to consolidate its billing system as well.
