Here are three things to know about the gift.

1. The anonymous gift was made in honor of Rolando M. Puno, MD, orthopedic spine surgeon with Louisville-based Norton Leatherman Spine Center, according to the report. Therefore, Dr. Puno will be the namesake of the surgical services unit at 267-bed Kosair Children’s.

2. The $2.5 million donation will fund equipment needed to repair orthopedic and spine conditions in children, additional specialists and expansion of specialty clinics, the Courier-Journal reports.

3. The gift is not the first recent donation to Kosair Children’s. Last month, the hospital announced that actress Jennifer Lawrence donated $2 million to establish the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Additionally, in January, Wal-Mart donated $1 million to support the hospital’s Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, according to the report.
