Hospital Prices Down 1% in September

Hospital wholesale prices fell 1 percent in September, according to the latest statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Producer Price Index.

Other healthcare sectors saw similar declines or flat growth: Physician office prices fell 0.1 percent; home healthcare service prices fell 0.2 percent and nursing care facility prices were flat. Overall, the healthcare industry saw a 0.5 percent decrease in wholesale prices.

The Producer Price Index measures the average change over time in the selling prices received by domestic producers for their output.
