HealthWell Foundation to help renal cell carcinoma patients with their co-pays

Gaithersburg, Md.-based HealthWell Foundation opened a new fund to provide financial assistance to Medicare patients suffering from renal cell carcinoma — the most common type of kidney cancer in adults, according to the National Kidney Foundation.

HealthWell, a financial assistance provider for inadequately insured Americans, plans to supply grants up to $1,000 to help RCC patients pay co-payments and premiums.

"A diagnosis of kidney cancer is stressful enough without having to worry about the cost of treatment," said National Kidney Foundation President Jeffry Berns, MD. "The financial assistance grants provided by the HealthWell Foundation allow patients to focus on getting better instead of co-pays and premiums."

Medicare patients with an annual household income up to 500 percent of the federal poverty level are eligible for the fund.

"Thanks to the generosity of our donors, this fund gives new treatment options and new hope to Medicare patients living with renal cell carcinoma," said HealthWell President Krista Zodet.
