Healthcare spending up 5.4% in Q4

Healthcare spending, not adjusted for seasonal changes or inflation, was $581.5 billion in the fourth quarter of 2014, up 5.4 percent from the fourth quarter of 2013, according to recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Hospital spending was up 5.9 percent in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014 compared to the same period of the previous year.

Additionally, spending was up 8.4 percent at outpatient centers and increased 3.2 percent at physician offices in the fourth quarter compared to the same period of the previous year.
