For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Oct. 10-14

Four of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare saw the largest increase in share price, with shares rising 10 percent.

King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services saw its share price rise 2.7 percent, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw its share price fall.

Here is how the five operators’ stock prices stacked up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $10.02 per share (down 5.8 percent)
  • HCA Holdings (Nashville, Tenn.): $80.32 per share (up 8.2 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $60.62 per share (up 3.3 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $22.78 per share (up 10 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $123.36 per share (up 2.7 percent)
