Erlanger's income exceeds budget on higher admissions

With admissions up 6.4 percent year over year, Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System has reported net income of $6.1 million for the second quarter of its fiscal year, according to the Times Free Press.

For the first half of its fiscal year, Erlanger reported operating income of $12.5 million, which exceeded the budget of $9 million.

On Monday, Britt Tabor, senior vice president and CFO of Erlanger, told the health system's board of trustees that the health system is "seeing a lot of regional growth," and Erlanger is "doing well" six months into the fiscal year, according to the report.

Mr. Tabor also reported to the board on Monday that excluding $105 million in its investment portfolio and $70 million held by bond trustees, Erlanger has cash reserves of $59 million.
