The index features cash pricing data for routine medical services in every state. It uses data from cash pay healthcare marketplace Sesame.
Here are seven things to know about month-over-month price changes from the index:
1. The national average price for a screening rose 7 percent to $44.08 from a November average of $41.23.
2. The most affordable COVID-19 appointments in December were in Florida at $36.67, on average.
3. The most expensive were in Connecticut at $100 on average, while the next-highest prices were in Illinois at $53.
3. Primary care telehealth visits climbed 1.4 percent month-over-month to $41.20.
4. Texas was the most affordable state for primary care telehealth, with a $37.14 average.
5. The most expensive average primary care telehealth prices were $56.10 in neighboring Louisiana.
6. Prescription refills rose 1.5 percent to $40.85.
7. Despite falling since September, mental health consult prices rose 50 cents on average in November to a national average of $44.87.
