Columbus Regional Health Unveils $30M Capital Project

Columbus (Ind.) Regional Hospital, the cornerstone of Columbus Regional Health, will begin a $30 million capital project this fall to build a new emergency department and expand its cancer center.

The new ED and expanded cancer center are expected to open later next year. Columbus Regional’s current ED is more than 20 years old and operates above capacity: The ED was built to serve 25,000 patients per year, but the hospital’s ED volume has averaged 40,000 the past few years.

Columbus Regional originally planned to build a new ED in 2008, but flooding forced the hospital to postpone its plans.
