The money was raised through participant fundraising efforts, corporate sponsorships and matching donations from the Columbus marathon board.
Throughout the course, there were 24 Nationwide Children’s patients and families cheering on the runners.
“I mean there’s nothing better than seeing all those kids at each mile marker, it… really keeps you going for every mile that you’re running the race,” Jesse Villalon, a Columbus marathon finisher, told WCMH.
Over the last six years, Columbus Marathon has donated $7 million for the hospital.
