Cigna and Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health reached a new contract agreement after three weeks out of network.
The insurer and health system reached a new contract deal April 4, according to a news release from Jefferson Health.
The agreement is retroactive to March 15, the date the two sides went out-of-network.
“We appreciate the patience and support of our community throughout this process of ensuring that our patients have uninterrupted access to the trusted providers who know them best,” Jefferson Health said in its news release.
A spokesperson for Cigna told The Philadelphia Inquirer the system was pleased to reach an agreement with Jefferson.
“We know this period has been stressful for patients, so as part of the agreement, any claims since March 15 will be reprocessed as in-network,” the company told the outlet.
This story was published March 17 and updated April 8 to reflect that Cigna and Jefferson have reached a new contract agreement.
