Prior to joining University of Utah Health Care, Mr. Crabtree worked with the Salt Lake Olympic Committee as the managing director of finance. Salt Lake City was home to the 2002 Winter Olympics and 2002 Winter Paralympics, and he was responsible for the financial reporting, debt and cash management, accounting payroll, taxes and auditing of the committee.
Before his Olympics tenure, Mr. Crabtree worked for the state government as director of finance, assistant director of finance and audit manager.
Recently, Mr. Crabtree was named a top non-profit CFO within Utah by Utah Business. UUHC CEO David Entwistle said Mr. Crabtree’s financial prowess and varied background have helped UUHC become of the top academic medical centers in the country.
“Complex changes in federal reimbursement for healthcare services and support of medical education threatened to undermine the financial stability of our organization,” Mr. Entwistle said of Mr. Crabtree in the report. “Because of Gordon’s prudent planning, decisive leadership and collaborative personal style, he was able to work with leaders at the state and federal level to avert a financial crisis and lead the organization to one of its best financial years in recent memory.”
