California hospital hiring after bankruptcy, closure

Tulare (Calif.) Regional Medical Center will begin interviewing new hires Nov. 27, roughly a month after suspending all services, Visalia Times-Delta reports.

The hospital shut down Oct. 29, as the local healthcare district voluntarily suspended its license with the state to operate the 112-bed hospital, as well as clinics and other outpatient facilities. The closure affected 524 employees.

Crisis consultants in the Bay Area, tapped to help Tulare Regional Medical Center's management transition after the closure, announced the interviews Monday.

Tulare Regional Medical Center's interim CEO Larry Blitz told Visalia Times-Delta preferential employment will be given to employees affected by the closure. Efforts to reopen the hospital are ongoing.
