As the pace of hospital closures across the U.S. continues to increase, Becker’s has reported on four hospital closures over the last two days.

Since the beginning of 2025, Becker’s has also reported on 15 hospital and emergency department closures, highlighting an alarming trend that healthcare facilities are feeling financial and operational pressures, particularly in underserved and rural communities.

Here are the four hospital closures Becker’s has reported on since April 21:

1. Orlando (Fla.) Health’s Rockledge Hospital and four hospital-based outpatient departments closed April 22. The closure, which eliminated 940 jobs, comes after the health system purchased the 298-bed facility from Dallas-based Steward Health Care for $439 million in October.

2. Upland, Pa.-based Crozer Health shared plans on April 21 to close its Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland. The closure comes after months of negotiations with multiple stakeholders and court hearings.

3. Crozer Health, which is shutting down entirely, will also close its Ridley Park, Pa.-based Taylor Hospital. Around 2,651 employees across Crozer’s two hospitals and its other facilities will be laid off from April 25 to May 2.

4. Mid Coast Medical Center Trinity (Texas) will close April 25 after the hospital attempted to secure long-term sustainability and financial stability for months. El Campo, Texas-based Mid Coast Health System, which operates and manages the hospital, also pointed to Medicare and Medicaid billing delays with commercial health insurance, lower-than-expected revenue from collections owed on patient copays, increased accounts payable for supplies and services and insufficient local tax revenue for operational shortfalls.
