Here are the 12 states with the highest percentage of rural hospitals at immediate risk of closure, according to a report from the Center for Healthcare Quality and Payment Reform:

 

  1. Connecticut: 33 percent
  2. Alabama: 31 percent
  3. Oklahoma: 28 percent
  4. Mississippi: 26 percent
  5. Tennessee: 25 percent
  6. Kansas: 22 percent
  7. Massachusetts: 20 percent
  8. Florida: 19 percent
  9. New York: 18 percent
  10. Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Maine: 16 percent
