Sylvain (Syl) Trepanier is system chief nurse executive for Providence, one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the United States, representing nursing practice for 36,000 nurses across 51 hospitals and more than 1,000 clinics in seven states.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a Fellow of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership. Dr. Trepanier also serves as an assistant professor in the master’s in nursing administration program at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He represents the nursing profession on several national boards, including the American Hospital Association’s Clinical Leadership Committee, the board of trustees for TruMerit, and the finance committee of the American Academy of Nursing.
He is also co-founder and chairman of the board of the National Collaborative for Transition to Practice. A recognized voice on nursing leadership and workforce transformation, Dr. Trepanier advocates for advancing the practice and profession of nursing across the health system.
He earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice and is board certified in executive nursing practice.
