Scott MacLean is senior vice president and CIO at MedStar Health in Columbia, Md., where he leads information systems and clinical engineering across the system. He has held the role since 2018 and brings more than three decades of experience in healthcare information technology.
Mr. MacLean began his career at General Electric and previously served as deputy CIO and vice president of IS operations at Mass General Brigham in Somerville, Mass., CIO at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass., and director of clinical systems at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
Mr. MacLean is board chair for the Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients Shared Services and board chair of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. MacLean was board chair for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and has written and spoken on technology in healthcare across the U.S., Middle East and Asia.
He earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Clemson (S.C.) University and an MBA in healthcare management from Boston University. He is a CHIME Certified Healthcare CIO and recognized as a Lifetime Fellow of CHIME for his participation in the organization and contributions to advance healthcare IT.
