Chief Digital Officer Cleveland Clinic

Rohit Chandra, PhD, is executive vice president and chief digital officer at Cleveland Clinic, where he leads the IT division and drives digital innovation across the system’s global network of hospitals and clinics.

Dr. Chandra joined Cleveland Clinic in 2022 following a 25-year career in technology and engineering. After earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and a doctorate in computer science from Stanford (Calif.) University, he held senior leadership roles at some of the world’s largest consumer internet companies. He served as senior vice president of search and advertising at Verizon Media, where he led the integration of Yahoo and AOL products, and spent roughly 13 years at Yahoo in search and advertising engineering leadership.

At Cleveland Clinic, he has prioritized building artificial intelligence and machine-learning capabilities to improve access to care and the patient and caregiver experience. He led a yearlong evaluation of ambient AI documentation tools involving roughly 250 physicians across more than 80 specialties, culminating in an exclusive multiyear partnership announced in 2025. Within months of launch, the technology was adopted by thousands of clinicians and used to document more than 1 million patient encounters, measurably reducing documentation time. His approach emphasizes building enterprise AI capabilities from the ground up rather than relying solely on off-the-shelf tools.

A sought-after speaker on the practical deployment of AI in large health systems, Dr. Chandra brings an engineer’s rigor to one of healthcare’s most consequential transitions.
