Robert Rose, DNP

System Chief Nursing Officer and SVP, Nursing Ascension

Robert Rose is system chief nursing officer and senior vice president of nursing for Ascension, one of the nation’s largest Catholic and not-for-profit health systems, a role he assumed in June 2025.

He leads nearly 35,000 nurses and more than 10,000 nursing support associates, directing efforts to elevate quality and safety, support nurse well-being, strengthen talent retention, and promote continuous improvement. With more than half of his career dedicated to Catholic healthcare, Dr. Rose brings extensive expertise in healthcare management and clinical leadership to the role.

Before joining Ascension, he served as market chief nurse for Greater Charlotte and central-area chief nursing executive at Atrium Health. He has contributed to professional committees as immediate past chair of the American Hospital Association’s Committee on Clinical Leadership and as a past board member of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, and he currently serves on the AACN/AONL Academic Practice Advisory Committee. Dr. Rose holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from the California College for Health Sciences, and a Nursing Doctorate from the University of Texas at Tyler.

He is board certified in nursing administration.
