Nicholas Grosso is president of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, one of the largest private orthopaedic groups in the United States.
He has led the group since its founding in 2013, when roughly 130 orthopedic physicians came together to preserve private practice medicine in the Mid-Atlantic region. Dr. Grosso is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience specializing in sports medicine and total joint replacement, and he continues to practice at the group’s Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland care centers in Catonsville, Columbia and Eldersburg.
He also serves as president of the Maryland Patient Care and Access Coalition and is a founder and president of MedVanta.
Dr. Grosso earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed a transitional internship and orthopaedic residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served as chief of orthopedics at Ireland Army Hospital, at Kimbrough Army Community Hospital and at a general hospital in Seoul, South Korea, and as a flight surgeon with the 24th Infantry Division. His military honors include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal.
Dr. Grosso previously served as chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at Howard County General Hospital and is a member of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Maryland Orthopaedic Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
