Michael “Mike” McCaffrey serves as vice president and chief supply chain officer at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), the academic health center based in Portland, Oregon.
He has spent more than two decades at OHSU, joining in 2004 and advancing through roles including director of logistics and associate vice president of logistics before assuming his current executive position. Across that tenure he has focused on bending the cost curve and removing supply chain-related burdens from clinical staff so that caregivers can operate at the top of their profession.
His leadership has been credited with helping OHSU achieve significant supply chain savings, including a widely reported $20 million in identified savings.
Before entering healthcare, Mr. McCaffrey built his early career in commercial logistics and procurement, serving as a logistics manager at Ryder Integrated Logistics and later as a global supply manager at Apple.
He earned a bachelor of science in business marketing from Providence College and a master of business administration from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College. Mr. McCaffrey is recognized within the field for emphasizing vision-driven leadership and operational discipline in academic medical center supply chains.
