Luis Taveras, PhD, is executive vice president and chief digital and information officer at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, where he leads digital and information strategy efforts. He spearheaded the post-merger technology integration that followed Jefferson’s combination with Lehigh Valley Health Network, helping expand the system from 18 to 33 hospitals and from roughly 45,000 to 65,000 employees.
He brings four decades of healthcare IT leadership, including prior roles as chief information officer at Hartford HealthCare, senior IT leadership at Barnabas Health and RWJBarnabas Health and chief technology officer at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers of New York.
He earned a doctorate focused on management and information systems, a master’s in business administration from Rutgers University, and a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. He is the author of “The 90 Day CIO: Strategies for Optimizing Outcomes and Value” and serves on a university healthcare informatics advisory council.
