John D’Angelo, MD, serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Northwell Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in the Northeast, headquartered in New Hyde Park, New York. Northwell Health spans New York and Connecticut with 28 hospitals, more than 1,000 outpatient facilities, over 20,000 physicians, 104,000 employees, and an operating budget exceeding $22 billion, making it the state’s largest private employer and healthcare provider.

Dr. D’Angelo assumed the role of President and CEO on October 1, 2025, following an extensive nationwide search and unanimous appointment by Northwell’s Board of Trustees. A Long Island native and emergency medicine physician, Dr. D’Angelo’s career at Northwell spans more than 25 years — beginning as an emergency physician at Glen Cove Hospital and advancing through system-wide clinical and administrative leadership. He played a central role in Northwell’s COVID-19 pandemic response as Chief of Integrated Operations and most recently served as Executive Vice President of the Central Region, overseeing six hospitals and more than 270 ambulatory care locations serving western Nassau County and Queens.

Dr. D’Angelo’s strategic priorities include completing the integration of Nuvance Health across New York and Connecticut, advancing Northwell’s digital transformation, and expanding ambulatory care access throughout the greater New York metropolitan area.
