Eugene A. Woods, MBA, MHA, FACHE, is CEO of Advocate Health, the nation’s third-largest nonprofit integrated health system, formed in 2022 through the combination of Atrium Health and Advocate Aurora Health.
Advocate Health serves roughly six million patients across six states through dozens of hospitals and more than a thousand care sites. Mr. Woods brings nearly three decades of healthcare leadership experience, including his tenure as president and CEO of Atrium Health beginning in 2016, where he led the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic and major growth.
A Penn State graduate, Mr. Woods earned a bachelor’s in health planning and administration, an MBA, and a master’s in health administration there. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, past chair of the American Hospital Association board of trustees, and a past chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond board.
Author of “Health, Hope, and Healing for All,” Mr. Woods is widely recognized as one of the most influential health system executives in the United States, with leadership that emphasizes scale, equity and the future of integrated care.
