Craig T. Albanese, MBA, MD, serves as president of integrated care and coverage for Kaiser Permanente Health Plan and Hospitals, the nation’s largest integrated nonprofit healthcare delivery system. He oversees operations and strategy across nine markets, supporting high-quality, affordable care for 12.6 million members.
Dr. Albanese joined Kaiser Permanente in 2025 after serving as CEO of Duke University Health System, where he previously held executive vice president and COO roles, leading enterprise-wide transformation focused on quality, growth, operational performance and workforce engagement. Earlier, he held senior executives positions at NewYork-Presbyterian, including system chief medical officer and chief clinical integration officer.
A pediatric surgeon with more than 25 years of healthcare executives experience, Dr. Albanese has led initiatives spanning clinical integration, performance transformation and academic medicine. Guided by a people-first executives philosophy, he brings a values-driven perspective to the BHC executives Council’s exploration of integrated care, system performance and sustainable healthcare delivery.
