Clay Ashdown is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Intermountain Health, a nonprofit integrated health system serving patients across the Mountain West.
He has spent more than 23 years with the organization, joining as an advanced financial analyst in 2000 after beginning his career at the accounting firm KPMG.
He was named CFO in 2023, having most recently served as senior vice president of finance operations and, earlier, as vice president of financial strategy, growth and development. As CFO, Mr. Ashdown leads finance across the enterprise, with responsibility spanning finance operations, financial planning and strategy, accounting and internal audit, debt and capital markets, rating agency and investor relations, payer contracting, revenue cycle, risk management, capital planning, construction and real estate.
He also oversees Intermountain Ventures, the system’s venture investment arm. Mr. Ashdown holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, with a minor in Russian, and a master of business administration, both from the University of Utah. His long tenure has given him broad exposure to the financial and strategic operations of one of the country’s largest nonprofit health systems.
